Departure time: 07:00h .The journey begins in Málaga, from where you head to Algeciras to catch the ferry to Tangier. The crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar is the first moment of the adventure — Europe fades behind you and Africa appears on the horizon. Arrival in Tangier and first night in Morocco.
From Tangier the road climbs into the Rif, the mountain range that separates northern Morocco from the rest of the country. The landscape is green and mountainous, very different from what comes next. At the bottom of the valley appears Chefchaouen, the blue-painted city — one of the most photogenic corners in the world.
Descend from the Rif and cross the central corridor of Morocco towards Fez. The road passes through open landscapes before reaching the oldest city in the Arab world. The medina of Fez is labyrinthine, alive and absolutely overwhelming — leave the bike and get lost in it.
The most epic stage of the tour. From Fez the route crosses the Middle Atlas via the Ifrane pass and descends south. The landscape changes radically — the pines and snow of the Atlas give way to palm valleys, mud-brick kasbahs and the first scent of desert. Arrival in Erfoud, gateway to the Sahara.
First detour to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes — the highest in Morocco. The silence of the desert at dawn on the bike is unforgettable. Then head west along the Route of the Kasbahs, one of the most spectacular roads in Africa, until reaching the Dadés Gorges.
From the Dadés Gorges the road crosses the High Atlas via the Tichka pass — at over 2,200 metres altitude, with endless views around every bend. The descent towards Marrakech is a gift for any rider. Arrival in the red city at sunset.
Leave Marrakech and ride north along the Atlantic highway. Casablanca is the modern face of Morocco — cosmopolitan, bustling and full of contrasts. The Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the world, overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Last night in Morocco.
The last day on the bike. North route to Tangier along the coastal highway, with the Atlantic on your left. Return ferry from Tangier to Algeciras — the Strait in reverse, with 2,000 kilometres of Morocco under your belt. Return to Málaga. Estimated arrival time: 21:00h
