Before you set off

Is the Andalusia–Portugal motorcycle route difficult?

1

What motorcycle do I need for this route?

You do not need the biggest motorcycle: you need comfort, range and confidence for six days.

  • Trail and adventure-touring motorcycles are ideal for combining motorways, coastal roads and inland sections.
  • A mid-capacity motorcycle offers ample power and is easier to handle in towns and cities.
  • If you rent from us, every motorcycle is prepared and selected for this route.
  • Road or mixed-use tyres in good condition are ideal: the main route is entirely paved.

2

When is the best time to travel?

Spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures, quieter roads and beautiful light.

  • March–June: long days, green landscapes and comfortable temperatures in Andalusia and Portugal.
  • July–August: expect potentially intense heat in Seville, Moura and inland Alentejo.
  • September–November: less traffic and excellent motorcycle-touring weather.
  • Mainland Portugal is one hour behind Spain, so remember to adjust your clock at the border.

3

What riding gear should I bring?

The Atlantic coast can be cool and windy while inland temperatures can be much higher.

  • A ventilated jacket with a removable waterproof membrane will adapt to every stage.
  • Pack a light thermal layer for Sagres and the coast, especially early and late in the day.
  • Bring sun protection, water and ventilated gloves for the hotter inland sections.
  • Our “Fly & Ride” Pack includes a helmet, jacket, trousers, gloves and boots.

4

What are the daily stages like?

The route combines easy-flowing days with longer stages along the Portuguese coast.

  • The six stages range from 186 to 328 km, covering approximately 1,518 km in total.
  • Allow extra time for El Rocío–Sagres and Sagres–Lisbon, the two longest days.
  • Leave time for viewpoints, towns, breaks and possible changes in traffic or weather.
  • Start early, take regular breaks and reach each overnight stop in daylight.
