Rental \u00b7 Routes<\/span><\/p>\n By Triumph Adventure Spain \u00a0\u00b7\u00a0 6 min read \u00a0\u00b7\u00a0 Andalusia, Morocco, Portugal<\/p>\n There is one question we get asked constantly at Triumph Adventure Spain: “How many days do I need for a good ride from M\u00e1laga?”<\/em> The honest answer is: it depends on what you want to experience. Three days are enough to make it worthwhile. Fifteen, on the other hand, will take you to another continent and back, with a head full of kilometres and boots full of dust.<\/p>\n M\u00e1laga is the perfect starting point. Fifteen minutes from the airport, at the geographical heart of the southern peninsula, with all of Andalusia to the north, the Atlantic to the west, the Mediterranean to the south, and Morocco just 35 kilometres away by ferry. Few cities in Europe can offer that kind of riding CV.<\/p>\n Below, the destinations we recommend based on how many days you have.<\/p>\n 3 days<\/p>\n Three days is the minimum to leave M\u00e1laga and come back with something real. And with that time, the Serran\u00eda de Ronda is the most complete option available.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udccd Distance from M\u00e1laga: 100km \u00a0\u00b7\u00a0 Total route: approx. 400km \u00a0\u00b7\u00a0 Terrain: mountain roads and secondary roads<\/p>\n The A-397 between San Pedro de Alc\u00e1ntara and Ronda has 365 documented corners in 30 kilometres. It climbs from sea level to 780 metres without losing rhythm. It is also the most famous motorcycle road in southern Spain, and for good reason: the tarmac is exceptional, the layout is technical without being aggressive, and the views over the coast as you climb are the kind that stay with you.<\/p>\n From Ronda, the second day takes you into the Sierra de Grazalema via the CA-9104 \u2014 17 kilometres of mountain pass climbing to the Puerto de las Palomas at 1,180 metres, surrounded by whitewashed villages stacked on cliff edges. For the third day, the return to M\u00e1laga through the interior, via Antequera or down the A-366 through the Guadalhorce valley, closes the loop naturally.<\/p>\n 365 corners on the A-397<\/span> 5 days<\/p>\n If you have five days, you can ride the circuit that Rich and Ewa did with us \u2014 Granada, Sierra Nevada, the Tabernas Desert and the Almer\u00eda coast \u2014 and return to M\u00e1laga feeling like you have crossed four completely different landscapes without leaving Andalusia.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udccd Total distance: approx. 900km \u00a0\u00b7\u00a0 Maximum altitude: 2,500m (A-395 Sierra Nevada) \u00a0\u00b7\u00a0 Terrain: mountain and coastal roads<\/p>\n The A-395 climbs into Sierra Nevada to 2,500 metres \u2014 the highest paved road in Europe. From the top, on a clear day, you can see both the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Furthermore, dropping down the other side into the Alpujarras, with their Moorish villages tucked into the ravine walls, is one of those stretches you do not expect and do not forget.<\/p>\n On the other hand, the Tabernas Desert in Almer\u00eda \u2014 the only semi-arid desert in continental Europe \u2014 is another landscape that breaks every assumption about what you can find in Spain. These are the same locations where Sergio Leone filmed the Spaghetti Westerns. A light and a silence with no equivalent anywhere else on the peninsula.<\/p>\n “On day two they activated roadside support when we had a problem with one of the bikes. We were never alone for more than five minutes. That is the difference between an adventure and a problem.”<\/p>\n \u2014 Rich, On the Road Adventure<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n 7 days<\/p>\n A week is enough to cross Andalusia from east to west and reach the southernmost point of continental Europe. Tarifa, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic and from the shore you can see Africa just 14 kilometres away.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udccd Total distance: approx. 1,300km \u00a0\u00b7\u00a0 Cities: Granada, Ja\u00e9n, C\u00f3rdoba, Sevilla, C\u00e1diz, Tarifa \u00a0\u00b7\u00a0 Terrain: national and secondary roads<\/p>\n The classic itinerary leaves M\u00e1laga towards Granada on day one, climbs Sierra Nevada, drops down into Ja\u00e9n \u2014 the olive oil province, with secondary roads running between groves that stretch as far as you can see \u2014 and continues towards C\u00f3rdoba and Sevilla. The return through C\u00e1diz, Jerez and the Costa de la Luz to Tarifa closes a loop that covers practically the entire geography and culture of the southern peninsula.<\/p>\n It is no coincidence that this is the tour our European clients repeat most often. Seven days, approximately 1,300 kilometres, and the feeling that Andalusia is far bigger than it looked on the map.<\/p>\n 10 days<\/p>\n From ten days onwards, crossing the border into Portugal becomes possible. Not to pass through \u2014 to ride it properly. The Portuguese N2, the longest road in the country at 738 kilometres from north to south, is one of the great motorcycle routes of the Iberian Peninsula that has not yet been overrun.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udccd Total distance: approx. 2,000km \u00a0\u00b7\u00a0 Border crossing: Ayamonte\/Vila Real de Santo Ant\u00f3nio \u00a0\u00b7\u00a0 Terrain: secondary roads, Atlantic coast<\/p>\n From M\u00e1laga the Portuguese border is a long day’s ride through Huelva and the marshes of the Do\u00f1ana National Park. Portugal changes the pace: less traffic, stone villages in the Alentejo, vineyards in the Douro, Atlantic coast with big waves and northerly wind. Lisbon halfway through the trip. The return, moreover, can be through the interior or along the coast \u2014 depending on what you still want to see.<\/p>\n Portuguese N2 \u00b7 738km<\/span> 15 days<\/p>\n Two weeks. Enough time to take the ferry from Tarifa or Algeciras, cross the Strait of Gibraltar in 35 minutes, and ride Morocco from north to south. Chefchaouen, the Atlas, the Sahara desert, Marrakech. Not dramatically \u2014 quietly. The landscape shifts every day: the forest-covered Rif mountains, the High Atlas passes with snow in spring, the mud kasbahs in the Draa valley, the Merzouga dunes at sunset. The smell of mint. The silence of the southern pistes where the horizon has no end.<\/p>\n We have been running this route for over 15 years.
